- Started in 1975 by Luc Van de Ven, based in Belgium, as "Soundtrack Collector's Notebook" (SCN), a digest sized quarterly publication devoted solely to film music.
- First issue, #0, was sent out before it went into regular production.
- After 21 issues the name changed to "Soundtrack".
- After issue 27, the magazine was re-launched in March 1982 as issue number 1.
